To achieve its stated objectives and expected outputs/results the RIVER2RIVER activities are organized into 6 separate though interlinked Work Packages (WPs):
WP1 focus on the management and coordination of project’s activities and PBs. Project quality control, reporting and major consortium meetings fall within this WP.
Similarly, WP2 covers horizontally information and promotion/publicity activities.
WP3 is related to “Green Infrastructures”. Two (2) Small-scale river restoration projects will be realized at both participating areas:
Under the WP4 high-end technology equipment for surface waters’ monitoring and safeguarding (water quality sensors, drones and cameras) will be purchased while several specialized IT tools (web and mobile) will be developed.
WP3’s and WP4’s actions are a prerequisite for restoring fish populations. It is a fact that the best results come from an integrated approach to river restoration that considers other aspects such as social benefits and wider environmental change. Thus, WP5 concerns the application of Mild/Environmentally-Friendly techniques for Restoration of Native Fish Species in Riverine Ecosystems as well as thematic consultation meetings with stakeholders.
In the context of WP6, 1 joint sustainability study of the project’s results will be conducted while two (2) Joint Thematic Workshops in Greece concerning capacity building on the field of WFD Implementation will be also organized.
